Questions about buying vocal toplines?

FAQ Vocal Toplines

What is the difference between exclusive and non-exclusive?

  • Exclusive Toplining: With exclusive, the buyer obtains sole ownership of the vocal elements, meaning the vocals cannot be resold or used by others. Exclusive vocals are typically priced higher due to their exclusivity.

  • Non-exclusive Toplining: Non-exclusive allows multiple buyers to purchase the same vocal elements. However, buyers must understand that the vocals are not royalty-free (30% goes to the singer and 70% to the buyer) and may be used by others in their projects. Non-exclusive vocals are generally priced lower than exclusive ones.

How do buyers purchase vocals?

To purchase vocals, buyers need to contact the topliner directly. The topliner will provide all vocal stems dry/wet. Buyers can choose between exclusive and non-exclusive licensing agreements based on their needs.

Are the toplines royalty free?

No, the vocals offered are not royalty-free. A portion (typically 30%) of the royalties generated from the use of the vocals will go to the topliner. This arrangement ensures that the topliner receives ongoing compensation for their creative work.

Can I order a custom vocal?

Yes, custom vocals are available upon request. Buyers interested in custom vocals can contact the topliner to discuss their specific requirements, including melody, lyrics, vocal style, and mood. Custom vocals are tailored to fit the buyer’s project and are priced accordingly based on the scope of work.
